The John Hopkins University School of Medicine along with Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health have recently announced a new program central to study of immune response to SARS-CoV-s, the virus that causes COVID-19. Their goal is to improve tests used to detect the pathogen which would in turn give scientists better understanding on how the virus impacts the immune system. With more knowledge of the immune system’s reaction when introduced to the virus, scientists believe this will ultimately bolster knowledge necessary to develop more effective treatments and vaccines to fight the virus.
